Cookie Fundraiser at Pine Hill Starts November 2nd

Pine Hill has decided to follow South Bay and work with the Krazy Baker for a delicious cookie fundraiser! Every box sold earns $10 for the Pandas, and all proceeds go directly toward ensuring every student gets a yearbook. Families can order one of 3 ways, via the paper order form (requires check or cash), a QR code that will be on the flyer, as well as a direct link to order online.

Flyers and order forms will be sent home Monday, November 2nd.

South Bay Cookie Fundraiser Kicks Off October 7th!

Get your sweet tooth ready! On Wednesday, October 7th, South Bay School is officially launching a delicious cookie fundraiser in partnership with The Krazy Baker.
For every dozen cookies sold, $10 will go directly back to our school, split evenly between our athletics department and our yearbook team. Most importantly, your support helps us carry on a deeply cherished tradition: keeping Ms. B’s dream alive of ensuring every single student receives a free yearbook to celebrate their school memories.
How You Can Participate
Starting Wednesday, October 7th, look out for ordering details in two places:
Whether you're stocking up on treats for the family or sharing with friends and coworkers, every order helps us support our student-athletes and fund a free yearbook for every child. Thank you for your continued support!

Traffic

Pine Hill Pick-Up & Drop-Off Safety Reminder

Far right lane: Quick drop-off only. If your child needs help getting out of the car, please park and walk them safely to the sidewalk.

Middle lane: Drive-through only. Please do not stop or allow anyone to enter or exit a vehicle in this lane. Visibility is limited for cars entering and exiting, making this especially unsafe.

Watch for buses! Please keep bus access clear and be alert as buses enter and exit the parking lot.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and for helping us keep our kiddos safe!

Pine Hill Parent Volunteers Wanted!

We’re looking for parents and caregivers who would like to help make Pine Hill an even more welcoming and connected place for our kiddos!

Morning Greeters: Help welcome students as they arrive. Research tells us that belonging matters—something as simple as hearing their name and receiving a warm greeting can help a child feel seen, valued, and ready for the day.

Panda Paw Experiences: Spend just 20 minutes with a small group of students doing something fun! Play a board game, build with LEGO, create some art, shoot hoops, jump rope, blow bubbles—or share another activity you enjoy.

Volunteer once a week, once a month, or whenever your schedule allows.

Volunteers do need to be fingerprinted, but the good news is that once it’s done, your fingerprints are good for as long as your child is enrolled in South Bay Schools.

Interested? Stop by the office and pick up a volunteer application. We’d love to have you!

Join the PTSA

Join here. We’d love to have you be part of our PTSA! When families are involved at school, students see that home and school are working together and that their education matters. It’s also a great way to meet other families, connect with staff, and have a voice in our school community.

Our PTSA supports so many of the extras that make school special—from family events and student celebrations to classroom extras, teacher appreciation, and fun activities for our kids.

PTSA meets on the second Tuesday of each month, and everyone is welcome! Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 3rd.

You don’t have to have a lot of extra time to participate. Every little bit of involvement helps! Come join us and be part of making our school a great place for our kids.

Stay Informed & Get Involved!

South Bay Union School District Board Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month at 6:00 PM in Room 15 on the South Bay campus.

Families and community members are encouraged to attend!

Board meetings are a great way to stay informed about what is happening in our district, learn about upcoming plans and decisions, and be involved in the conversation.

Come listen, learn, and stay connected to what’s happening in South Bay!

Prepare Now for a Strong El Niño Winter

With a strong El Niño winter forecasted—bringing higher seas, bigger king tides, and back-to-back heavy storms—Humboldt COAD is urging community members and local organizations to prepare early.

Community Flood Preparedness Forums: Learn how to find your evacuation zone, prepare for flooding, and get county alerts by attending a local forum hosted by the Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services, National Weather Service, PG&E, and Humboldt COAD. Each meeting will be held from 6-8pm.
  • Wednesday, November 4: King Salmon, Fields Landing, and Elk Valley at the Humboldt Hill Grange
  • Thursday, November 12: Freshwater, Jacoby Creek, and Bayside at the Freshwater Grange
  • Tuesday, November 17: Ferndale at Ferndale City Hall
  • Wednesday, November 18: Big Lagoon and Orick at the Orick Community Hall
Take Action at Home: Review your flood risk on the FEMA flood map, sign up for Humboldt Alert, and consider purchasing flood insurance early (most NFIP policies take 30 days to activate, making a policy purchased now active before Thanksgiving king tides). Find a full household checklist and resources at COAD's flood page.
